Their Legacy CargoWise system was a bit complicated to use. Retail merchants and direct importers had to struggle a lot to manage cargo imports. Matech CO found that their existing interface wasn't capable enough to keep pace with the speed of modern e-commerce.
Tracking shipments, generating quotes, and coordinating approvals all ran through slow, disconnected processes. All this left customers without clear visibility into their cargo. Matech CO modernized this experience by building an intuitive digital layer over CargoWise. It uses EDI integration to give customers real-time onboarding, container tracking, and shipment visibility.
02. Challenges
Generating reliable pricing quotes through the legacy CargoWise system was a constant headache, making budgeting difficult for merchants and importers. Its outdated interface simply couldn't keep up with the fast pace of modern e-commerce operations.
On top of that, teams had to handle approvals, follow-ups, and shipment updates almost entirely through email. This heavy reliance on inbox chains led to missed details and created a cumbersome tracking experience for clients trying to stay on top of their cargo.

Matech CO tackled every issue head-on by centralizing quotation workflows and shipment visibility into a single platform. Now, customers can generate shipment quotes directly within the app, which automatically routes them to the internal operations team for approval.
Once approved, the system instantly creates the shipment, clearing the communication bottleneck. To boost visibility, the platform hooks directly into the Marine Traffic API, powering an interactive live map.
Users track their cargo in real time with precise Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and Actual Time of Arrival (ATA) updates. Together, the quotation workflow and live tracking replace the fragmented, email-dependent process.
Consequently, this has made shipment management effortless. Importers can now directly manage their daily supply chains.
